I (Peter) popped down to the Goodwood Motor Racing Circuit this morning in my E-Type (Series 1 4.2 Roadster) to attend the first Breakfast meeting of 2010 and I was utterly amazed by the sheer volume of people and cars in attendance. A quick calculation told me that there were about 300 Classics of all sorts parked in the Paddock and on the Pit straight – all sparkling under the crisp clear blue sky.
It was a poignant statement that Classic Car ownership in the UK is a most significant hobby and pastime – open to and enjoyed by all. My E-Type drove like a dream. Leaving home at 7.30 I was at the circuit 60 minutes later having taken the wonderful cross-country route from Camberley, via Farnham, Selborne, Petersfield, South Harting and Lavant.
This is a picturesque route with long straights, sweeping curves and even a tight little hill climb! The expression “Safety Fast” springs to mind….. With its 5-speed gearbox the car simply flew and the crisp resonance from its wonderful 6-branch 2″ exhaust system was a delight to the ear.
A well set-up E-Type such as this one is an absolute delight and it is easy to forget that the model was introduced almost 50 years ago. So – the Classic season is pretty well upon us.
Let WSM help you make the most of enjoying your car – what ever it might be. Chat to Chris about the technical side and to Peter for booking you in. We do really care and hopefully we live up to our slogan…..”Where Service Matters”.
